early flight to berlin. the obligatory picture.

 finally! these are the iphone pictures of berlin i've been talking about. some things might seem familiar but others are new (like all pictures taken at night).

DAY 1

when we arrived we went to the city center (which is practically non-existent, haha) by bus and walked by the reichstag building.

we ended up at quchnia to have breakfast.

visiting new cafés is one of my favorite things to do. not only abroad.

carrot scones! waaaaaaaah, i need the recipe!

it only takes one flower to make a person smile.

after breakfast we checked in at our first hotel - the seminaris campushotel berlin.

we rested for half an hour and then went to the freie universität berlin.

we ended the first day with beer, cocktails and martini (my favorite drink!).

once i'm grown up i want an extraordinarily luxurious bathroom!

around 10 pm my boyfriend arrived in berlin. once at the hotel we managed to move the beds together. yeah!

DAY 2

the first half of our second day in berlin we spent at university, the other half we spent in the city.

they even have organic currywurst in berlin! :D i'll still stick to the vegetarian version of sausages.

kaiser wilhelm memorial church. the original church was almost destroyed completely during WW2. part of it is still standing today. however, what you see in this picture is the belfry of the new church.

DAY 3

we slept until 10 am and went to have breakfast at a small café near our second hotel - the best western hotel am spittelmarkt.

before going back to vienna we went to chocolate paradise! <3 fassbender & rausch!

She's a Berlin City Girl!

wohoo! trabi safari! next time i want to drive this car. :D

last weekend we went to berlin for the annual conference of the association for korean studies in german speaking countries. just a short summary: the professors and students at the freie universität berlin were very kind and welcoming. the panels were more or less okay. i heard nothing new or spectacular but the topics might help me with my own master thesis. the weather was shitty but my travel companions were amazing! all in all it was one of the nicest weekends in 2012. now see for yourself.

indian summer in berlin.

the sphere at the top of the tv tower! amazing amazing amazing! wonderful atmosphere, great drinks and food, awesome view. don't forget to make a reservation! (keep in mind: if you want to eat at the sphere you still have to pay an entrance fee of 12€)

i will go wherever life takes me. my plans for the next months: spa vacation (hopefully!), portugal in february and maybe budapest in april.
