I Am Looking For Freedom In 2013

2013, i am here to officially say 'howdy' to you and to set my new year's resolutions forth. i know... quite late. first bad habit i've acquired after high school: procrastination. this habit is really getting in my way now more than ever. anyway, 10 things i want to change in 2013:

#1 do more sports (i've already started with a new sport: bikram yoga. blog post to follow soon. and in spring i want to improve my running. my goal: 10 km).
#2 find myself a job i actually like.
#3 get things done faster, don't procrastinate.
#4 be more active in every possible way (meet up with friends, enjoy more cultural activities...). ergo: if i want to do something i'll do it and won't just babble about it.
#5 add more vegan recipes to my menu (i'm currently reading 'eating animals' by jonathan safran foer. eye-opening! go to the next bookstore, buy and read it).
#6 read more books (when i was younger i was such an avid reader... and i sometimes miss this).
#7 believe in myself (don't quit before i have even tried).
#8 be more outspoken (i'm not dumb and my opinion counts as much as everyone else's).
#9 be less emotional. save my strength for important things in life.
#10 update my bloggie more often because i actually enjoy putting photos and thoughts up here.

wishing you a great night!

The Ocean State

a typical newport home.

we started our new england road trip in newport, rhode island. when you look at the pictures you will soon understand why rhode island's nickname is 'the ocean state'. even though we only spent about 3 hours in newport, this city has left a mark in my memory. the sun was shinging bright and the atmosphere was so different from new york's hustle. so far newport is the most beautiful provincial town i've seen in the states. what's more, newport is home to eleven breathtaking mansions which are open to the public. because our time was so limited we went for the most famous one - the breakers mansion. as rhode island was (and still is) known to be new england's summer resort the vanderbilt family built the most stunning summer residence in newport at the end of the 19th century. the interior also blew me away. unfortunately, we were not allowed to take any pictures inside the mansion. anyway, have fun scrolling down!

flowers everywhere.

New York City Photo Diary - Part 3

the third and last part of my new york city photo diary.

on our last day in new york we went to harlem. we intended to go to church but a gazillion other tourists had the same plan. ^^ at least we got some free books! :D i took this one for me: be not afraid: overcoming the fear of death. haha, i just found it on amazon: click me. it seems the book is not that unknown...
i really enjoyed being in harlem. i remember back in 2007 i was way too scared to go there with my friend. complete nonsense. it's not the harlem it used to be.
chelsea market. once a factory this place is now a great shopping mall with cafés, bistros and small shops. a definite must-see!
everything blends in perfectly at chelsea market. the old, the creative and the new.
we had the perfect weather for visiting the highline park. it's so different from other parks.
it originally was an elevated railroad spur. but these days various plants grow there.

you can still see the old rails.

the green in the city. this is how it should be.
view from the elevated park.
i wish vienna had a park like this.
2012 was my year of flower photography. ^^

welcoming.

how it looked like back then. just my picture of an old picture to show you a piece of history.
highline park today.
new york.
the united states of america.
trump tower.
in front of the rockefeller center. in summer there's a café, in winter there's a skating rink.
even the sky is cooler in new york city. :D
looking up the rockefeller center.
we never saw the whole thing...
going to the observation deck of the rockefeller center.
looking at central park.
view from top of the rocks.
my favorite building.
bestest travel buddy.
urban jungle.
i miss you new york. :(

this is how my new york city diary ends... with a sunny day in september.
